Christine Zittlaw
Elder Guide
Christine graduated from Norquest College in 2002. She has enjoyed working in pediatric medicine as well as postpartum maternity. Christine enjoys helping people and loves being a licensed practical nurse.
As a teen, Christine would often help her aunt, who was a recreation coordinator, put on special teas, play games with the residents, and hold mini piano concerts. She always had a good time with the residents and knew from there that she would love working with seniors one day.
Christine’s passion is to provide a loving, family- centered and wholistic approach to elder care. With her team of healthcare professionals, Christine is able to put those ideals into practice every day.
As Elder Guider at our Cameron Heights location, Christine oversees and ensures the high standards of quality care, mentors and engages staff and is the main point of contact for our Cameron Heights extended families.
Christine is married with two children. She loves animals, the outdoors and hiking with her dog.
Andrea MacDonald
Community Leader
Andrea is the eldest of 5 siblings, so growing up, she recognized her role as a caregiver at a young age. Her instinct for helping others intensified as she watched her grandparents fall ill. Assisting with personal care and psychosocial health, Andrea started the path for her career in the Healthcare Field.
As a lifelong learner, she worked a variety of positions initially to jumpstart her experience and continue her education. From Spinal Cord Injuries to palliative care, she began to observe the workings of diverse level's of care.
Acute care opened her eyes to the compassion and empathy required to assist those of all ages. This fast-paced environment secured her belief in holistic care. As a float nurse, she found herself working frequently on the Alternative Level of Care Unit. This was the beginning of years of dementia training, skill development and her love for senior care was born. A highlight of Andrea's career was becoming a Team member of the Victoria Order of Nurses. It is here she encouraged independence and the respect for those that yearn to live in their home for the reminder of their lives.
With her increasing interest in dementia care, Andrea completed her Positive Approach to Care training, Certifying her as a Dementia Educator. The premise of Living in the moment, encouraging self-expression and respecting those living with dementia for where they are was the focus. She has participated in education sessions for families and those living with early onset dementia.
Becoming part of the ExquisiCare Team as Community Leader in 2021, Andrea has made it her goal to make non institutional care available to seniors her focus. Making a home environment available, while exceeding the standard of care has been exciting. It’s the ‘thinking outside the box”. Tasked based care is a thing of the past, and she strives to push the dignity, independence, choice and respect that ExquisiCare stands for.
As Community Leader, Andrea has overall operational accountability for our 3 SW Edmonton locations. She oversees and ensures the high standards of quality care, mentors and engages staff and is the main point of contact for our extended families.
Liz Wong
Life Enrichment Coordinator
Liz has the privilege of being the Life Enrichment Coordinator for Edmonton Southwest ExquisiCare locations.
Liz graduated from Norquest Collage in the Nursing Aide Program in 2001. She decided to take this career path later in life after looking after her grandmother for several years. Her grandmother’s passion for life was an inspiration. The importance of keeping your mind and body active was installed in Liz during this time. Liz wanted to continue this feeling of giving herself to others. To make each person smile and feel worthy to be the best that they can be in any circumstances.
Soon after graduating, Liz landed her first position as a Nursing Aide in Recreation. Even with no experience in Recreation, Liz put in her best effort thinking it sounded like fun. And? She fell in love with Recreation. She returned to Norquest to achieve her Recreation Certificate and never looked back.
Liz says that "ExquisiCare is the perfect place for me. With only 10 seniors per home, it gives me a chance to really know the residents and their families and thus the opportunity to taylor a program to their needs. Of course, others are always welcome to join in so that everyone benefits."
Liz absolutely loves her job, and it shows!
